Chris Griffiths started his first business, part time in his parents' basement at the age of 17. By the time he was 19 it had a retail storefront and four employees.
Since then he has started or bought 7 businesses and divested all of them with increasing levels of success.
His green field, multi million dollar manufacturing startup, Garrison Guitars was sold to Gibson Guitars after 7 years of growth and with it came the opportunity to work with Gibson directly for two years.
Subsequent corporate work includes American Music and Sound and US Music Corp.
Chris was a director of the regulated utility Newfoundland Power, a division of the publicly traded, multibillion dollar utility Fortis Inc (TSX-FTS) where he was named Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee after only two years.
His volunteer work spans from the Heart and Stroke Foundation to the Music Industry Association of Canada (Chairman) to the St. John's Board of Trade (Senior VP).
Chris has won over 14 awards for innovation, entrepreneurship, exporting, volunteerism and business plan development. He has given speeches on these topics as well as on lean manufacturing and lean enterprises to groups of over 1,000 all over North America as well as in the UK, Australia, South Africa and Germany.
He has hosted an entertainment TV show for 4 seasons, been a newspaper columnist and given hundreds of interviews and addresses and has been featured in media including Entrepreneur Magazine, Design News, Music Trades, Music Merchandise Review, The Music and Sounds Retailer, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, CBC, Global, CTV, Acoustic Magazine and more...
